New York Jets Coach Robert Saleh and Owner Woody Johnson in ‘Heated’ Conflict

Is everything alright between Robert Saleh and Woody Johnson ? Even in an offseason filled of anonymous stories, massive free agent spending, and altering expectations, the New York Jets’ “quietness” remains elusive – apparently, at least.

In an episode of “Around the NFL,” league reporter Colleen Wolfe described a “heated discussion” between Jets head coach Robert Saleh and owner Woody Johnson.

“From a very reliable source at the owners meetings, there was a very heated conversation between Woody and Robert to the point it was very awkward,” Wolfe went on to say. “It could have been about anything … it was a little awkward.”

Should Jets fans be concerned about Robert Saleh ?

Wolfe explained that the talk was not an argument in the traditional sense, but the reporter’s source stated that it left an unpleasant vibe immediately after.

As much as Buffalo Bills fans and the rest of the AFC East would appreciate some Big Apple dissent, a source in Orlando tells us the rumor is greatly exaggerated, and the “conflict” was of no particular consequence.

Jets would be hoping to get Aaron Rodgers back playing for them soon

It is worth noting, respectfully, that according to past Athletic reports, New York Jets eccentric owner would sometimes consider fan feedback when reviewing his personnel and was clearly frustrated with the team’s lack of success under Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas. However, the Jets are also downplaying it, with Johnson subsequently telling reporters Monday that the team’s success in 2024 would be “in the eye of the beholder.”

All of this comes after Johnson vigorously defended his head coach, despite his 18-33 record. Johnson said:

“He’s going to be a lot better head coach,” “One thing about head coaches is you get better as you get more experience. And he’s going to concentrate on offense. He’s got Jeff [Ulbrich] to do the defense. And we’ve got good special teams. It’s offense, offense, offense.”

While we can’t confirm what the Jets owner and head coach were “discussing,” the latest report comes at a bad time for New York as it tries to shake its “dysfunctional” reputation… as if our source is correct, there’s nothing significant going on here to add to any alleged issues.
