As new general manager Omar Khan begins to restructure the Steelers’ roster through free agency, Pittsburgh has already added wideout Van Jefferson. Last season, the Baltimore Ravens took a chance on veteran Odell Beckham Jr., giving him $16 million in exchange for 35 receptions, 535 yards, and three touchdowns.
However, Beckham’s season doesn’t seem too bad when you realize that he recorded a career-high 16.1 yards per reception during that period. Additionally, the Pittsburgh Steelers may be looking to add him to their roster, which is constantly changing.
Wideout has already been added by Pittsburgh Van Jefferson is the new general manager Omar Khan is continuing to restructure the Steelers’ roster through free agency, and Tyler Boyd, a former Bengal, appears to be Khan’s primary wideout target.
NFL insider talks Odell Beckham Jr’s status
However, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic believes that Beckham might be the Steelers’ next target if Boyd is not able to be acquired. He said,
“The Steelers need a reliable No. 2 receiver, ideally a great route runner to work the underneath portions of the field. My colleague Mark Kaboly reports there’s mutual interest between the Steelers and Pitt product Tyler Boyd. “While the draft is especially deep at receiver and Khan might see some value in a player on a rookie deal, finding an established receiver makes sense for a team that is trying to revamp its offense.”
Next on DeFabo’s list of excellent choices was Beckham.
Since the Steelers have already acquired safety DeShon Elliott and linebacker Patrick Queen, two former Ravens, there appears to be a pattern for Khan and the team this offseason. Let’s not overlook the fact that Beckham finished the season as the team’s second-leading receiver by yards, despite what many considered to be a poor campaign for him in Baltimore. OBJ might play a significant role as Khan and the Steelers continue to add players in an effort to challenge the Ravens for the AFC North championship.
