Steve Kerr doesn’t need asking twice when it comes to give his honest opinion. Against the New York Knicks tonight, the Golden State Warriors had to prevail, but they didn’t. The Warriors are currently four games out of advancing past the play-in round and back in the 10th seed.
Even with Julius Randle and OG Anunoby out for the Knicks, Steve Kerr felt that the Warriors’ defeat at the hands of the Knicks wasn’t due to a lack of effort, but rather to sheer inadequacy.
Kerr stated:
“I don’t think it’s a lack of effort,” “I think we weren’t good enough. It’s that simple. We just did not play well enough. It’s disappointing because we have these three home games here this week and we wanted to get off on the right track, but that’s a really good team and they just outplayed us. Simple as that.”

For Kerr and the Warriors, the most annoying aspect of the defeat is that they haven’t played well at home. The Golden State Warriors are currently 17–18 at home this season, which is the primary reason they aren’t yet out of the play-in tournament. Kerr stated:
“It’s always important to control your home floor,” “This has been a strange season in that regard. We’ve been good at home for a long time, and just haven’t been able to establish that dominance at home. That’s what’s keeping us from climbing up in the standings.”
Kerr didn’t even appear irate during the press conference following the game. It’s worse than being outraged; he just seemed to accept that the Golden State Warriors weren’t good enough.
