Following the Philadelphia 76ers‘ victory over the Miami Heat, how is Joel Embiid feeling?
The Philadelphia 76ers faced the Brooklyn Nets in the regular season finale before they found themselves in their first Play-In Tournament match.
Joel Embiid was designated by the Sixers as questionable on the injury report coming into the game. Embiid unexpectedly missed the crucial game.
Embiid’s Sunday absence raised many questions. The fact that the big man visited the locker room to have his knee examined during the Orlando Magic game last Friday raised immediate concerns about whether Embiid was having a setback following his comeback from a multi-month recuperation period following meniscus surgery.
Joel Embiid Injury scare
Thankfully, Embiid’s fear was unfounded and only a precaution. Embiid completed his assignment during the second half of the game on Friday. The All-Star was cleared for Wednesday’s game against the Heat despite missing Sunday’s action. He had practiced twice before the Play-In clash.
It might be said that the season was on the line for the Sixers on Wednesday, as they may miss the playoffs. Against the Heat, Embiid checked in for 38 minutes as a result.
The game on Wednesday was a rough one, as was to be expected. Thankfully, Embiid was able to see out the game without any scares this time. The MVP-winning center gave a brief update on his knee following the game.
He said after the game,
“Hopefully, every day gets better,” “We’ll just keep monitoring it.”
Embiid has started every game since joining the Sixers as a doubtful player. Only two of the team’s final seven games were missed by him before the regular season ended. Embiid was dubious going into the game on Wednesday for the eighth consecutive time.
When the Sixers visit the New York Knicks for Game 1 of the first round on Saturday, the trend might continue, but it is likely that Embiid will play on. The famous center is ready to compete as long as he doesn’t encounter any obstacles on the court.
