On Sunday, Tyrese Maxey scored a career-high 52 points, and the visiting Philadelphia 76ers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 133-126 thanks to key buckets from Ricky Council IV and KJ Martin in the second overtime period.
With 33 points, 18 rebounds, seven blocked shots, and six assists, Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs.
With 3:04 remaining in the second overtime, Council’s three-point play leveled the game at 126-126. Two free throws by Council with 1:56 remaining gave the 76ers a two-point advantage. With 1:09 remaining, Martin scored the game’s last points with a slam on the break after Nicolas Batum made a three-pointer, increasing Philadelphia’s advantage to seven.
A Sixers sans Joel Embiid win
Kelly Oubre Jr. contributed 26 points during the 76ers’ five-game winning streak. Buddy Hield scored ten, while Council and Paul Reed both got eleven. Reed pulled down a team-high ten rebounds as well. Joel Embiid (recovering from knee surgery) and Tobias Harris (knee contusion) were not available for Philadelphia.
