UConn Huskies Have Another DOMINANT Run To Win Back To Back National Championships & Their 6th In School History

Phoenix, AZ – As the NCAA likes to say, “The road ends here.”

The 2024 Men’s National Championship game featured the two best teams all year in UConn and Purdue. It also featured two of the best big men in the country with Purdue’s Zach Edey and UConn’s Donovan Clingan. For the Boilermakers, they’re seeking their first National Championship in school history while the Huskies seeks to keep their National Championship win streak alive by going 6 for 6 in the title game.

The keys to the game were very simple for both teams. For Purdue, it was keep it simple and play through Zach Edey while for UConn it was remain poised and get Edey out of the paint.

Early on, Purdue did a great job of playing through Edey. Getting him the ball anytime he wanted and he was wreaking havoc on the defensive end as well. They jumped out to a small lead but that didn’t matter to UConn because they’re probably the most poised team in the country. It was a back and forth game for most of the first half then UConn went on a mini run to end the half to go up by six.

They did not turn back after that.

The second half started and the Huskies were in full control of the game. They improved their ball movement which allowed them to get Edey outside of the paint. That opened up driving lanes and rim attacks while also helping them get more offensive rebounds. It became very clear early in the second half that Purdue was going to have to make major changes if they anted to win.

They did not.

Even though he had great numbers, Edey didn’t have the same effectiveness as he did in the first half. Especially on the defensive side of the ball which hurt Purdue the most. They couldn’t get any stops and couldn’t match the offensive output the Uconn had.

After UConn stated their attack there was nothing Purdue could do to stop it and it led to a 75-60 victory for the Huskies.

They are your 2024 Men’s National Champions!

The Huskies were led by Tristen Newton who had 20 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds which was good enough for him to win the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Stephon Castle added 15 points and 5 rebounds while Cam Spencer and Donovan Clingan both added 11 points.

With the win, not only are they the first team to go back to back since Florida in 2007, but they also are now an unprecedented 6 for 6 in National Championship games.

It has truly been two back to back DOMINANT runs. No one has even been able to get close to beating them. If fans weren’t considering them a blue blood, they have to now.
