Devin Haney is not only focused on humbling his opponent in the ring; he is also hellbent on exacting retribution over Ryan Garcia when the two next square off.
Since Garcia caused Haney’s humiliating loss on April 20, the ward rivalry between the two has been savage. Haney had never been knocked down three times in a ring before, so it was only natural that he would be heavily ridiculed.
Then, when it became apparent that Garcia might have used illegal substances before to the fight, casting doubt on the outcome as a whole, he was released from jail.
Given that he was physically assaulted and that the assault was done without authorization, Haney is now seeking severe retribution, both “mentally and financially.”
Haney has threatened to sue Ryan Garcia
He has already threatened to sue Garcia outside of the ring. In addition, he stated in an interview with Ariel Helwani for The MMA Hour that he intends to harm the 25-year-old boxer within the ring. Haney said,
“He going to pay in the ring and out the ring and that I mean in many different ways. The sh*t that he did, I want to make him pay for the sh*t that he did,”
“When you sign the contract, he said he was gonna be clean going into the fight. Ain’t gonna be nothing in my system, ain’t gonna be nothing in his system. He didn’t hold up his bargain. He didn’t hold up on his side. I wanna get it back in blood inside the ring and outside the ring.”
