LeBron James Podcast to End After JJ Redick Accepts Lakers Job

LeBron James and Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick’s podcast is coming to an end.
Together with four-time NBA champion LeBron, the 40-year-old established Mind The Game earlier this year.

Redick was named Lakers chief on Monday after the team conducted a protracted search. LeBron and his new coach talked about everything basketball on the well-liked YouTube pod, which has over 650,000 subscribers.

Redick stated through ESPN:

“For the time being, and hopefully it’s a very, very long time, I am excommunicated from the content space,”  “So there will be no podcast. I’m done with podcasting for now.”

The ESPN commentator and former NBA player Redick made their pod debut alongside James in March. The Lakers have inked him to a four-year contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

JJ Redick reveals if he spoke to LeBron James about job

Redick said he didn’t talk to LeBron about the role when rumors started to circulate, despite having access to one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Redick said,

“He didn’t provide any advice,” “LeBron and I did not talk about the Lakers job until Thursday afternoon about 30 minutes after I was offered the job. “And that was very intentional on both our parts.”

At first, the Lakers had their eye on Dan Hurley, the head coach of the NCAA-winning UConn Huskies. Hurley declined a six-year, $70 million contract to stay with the Huskies and try to complete a record threepeat the following year. Redick said,

“During that whole [Hurley saga], at no point was my ego or feelings hurt or bruised in any way,”.”Dan Hurley i s a two-time national champion at UConn.” “I am a two-time 55 Swish League champion in the third- and fourth-grade division. Like, I understood, you know? I understood.”

With LeBron’s future with the Lakers still up in the air, Redick signs with the team. James has until June 29 to select whether to exercise his $51 million player option or to become a free agent by opting out.

In 2020, LeBron, 39, took home his fourth ring with the Lakers. However, the group hasn’t performed up to par since. Last season, they went 47–35 throughout the regular season before falling to the Denver Nuggets in the opening round of the playoffs.
