Have you heard the rumor going around about the Basketball Wives of Orlando being allegedly canceled after just one season? Yeah, you read that right! It seems like the show didn’t quite live up to expectations, and now fans are left wondering what went wrong.
For those who aren’t familiar, Basketball Wives of Orlando was supposed to be a spin-off of the hit reality TV show Basketball Wives. The show was set to follow the lives of the wives and girlfriends of NBA players based in Orlando. Exciting, right? Well, it turns out that the show might not have been as exciting as everyone had hoped.

The show, which featured nine women navigating relationships with NBA stars while living in Florida, premiered to solid ratings with its debut episode attracting 307,000 (live/same day) viewers.
However, viewership declined throughout the season, with the finale drawing in 196,000 (live/same day) viewers.
Starring Ashley Snell, Danielle Miller, Lyndzie Marble, Mackenzie Hyatt, Mehgan James, Morgan Bledsoe, Mulan Hernandez, Nikki Nicole, and Nique Brown, the series aimed to capture the drama, friendships, and financial ups and downs of its cast members.
Despite its initial viewership, VH1, the network behind the show, has allegedly decided not to renew it for a second season.
On social media, cast members have been notably quiet about the show’s future. However, Mehgan James recently reposted a tweet from a follower on X (formerly Twitter) who expressed hope that the fan-favorite would return to the original Basketball Wives.
The original Basketball Wives, featuring Evelyn Lozada, Jennifer Williams, and Brandi Maxiell, returns to VH1 on July 1st.
It’s a bummer that Basketball Wives of Orlando didn’t make it past the first season, but hey, that’s just how the cookie crumbles sometimes in the world of reality TV. Who knows, maybe a new and improved version of the show will come along in the future.
