Paul Pierce Trolls Lakers for Hanging the IST Banner After Boston Wins Their 18th Championship

The Boston Celtics have surpassed their bitter rival, the Los Angeles Lakers, to become the most successful NBA team history with their most recent championship victory. This gave Paul Pierce the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pull the LA team’s leg, adding an exciting new dimension to their rivalry. In doing so, “The Truth” made fun of the team for putting up the flag for the in-season competition.

The 46-year-old made his remarks public shortly afterward via an Instagram story. It included a post summarizing his unfavorable thoughts about the Lakers’ efforts. Afterwards, an NBA fan focused on Pierce’s actions on X, the former Twitter, which attracted the community’s attention.

Paul Pierce Blasts Lakers

His remarks first came to light during the Celtics’ championship festivities. While sullying the NBA rivals, Pierce gestured to the rafters from his home court. Amidst a plethora of journalists, the 2008 victor declared,

“If we win the in-season tournament, we’re not putting up a banner. Let the Lakers do that. Listen, we will make a carpet out of it and put it in the hallway or something. We’re not putting no play-in or NCAA tournament there.”

The intensity of the rivalry between the two teams was shown by this incident. As such, Pierce—a former player—continued to be actively involved in inciting unrest among the Lakers. Thus, his devious actions of making fun of the Los Angeles team continued to make sense.

This historic NBA rivalry has been rekindled by the Celtics’ most recent accomplishment, opening the door to an exciting future.
