After His Arrest for Domestic Abuse, Cameron Sutton Suspended for 8 Games

He realized that neither the fans nor the punishment would let him go away. The NFL declared on Monday that former Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton had violated the league’s personal conduct policy and will miss the first eight games of the 2024 campaign without pay.

During the offseason, Sutton got into a fight that started as a domestic battery by strangulation charge but was subsequently dropped to a misdemeanor. Sutton, who is currently a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is expected to miss some time on the field and will not appeal this punishment.

Sutton was at the Lions facility when the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office released the warrant, which had been out for over a month. Detroit then released Sutton a day later.

In search of another opportunity, Cameron Sutton joined a new team

Since then, Cameron Sutton has agreed to a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was drafted by this squad, but he will now have to miss the first half of the 2024 campaign due to injury. Rod Wood said,

“We were able to reach out to Cam and talk about it, and we suggested he seek counseling and do the right thing and turn himself in,”  “After that, we met the rest of the day and the next morning to decide whether to release him.”

Later, in order to escape prosecution, Sutton would turn himself in and consent to enroll in a domestic violence intervention program.

Sutton started all 17 games for Detroit last season and was the Lions’ primary cornerback on defense. However, the Lions strengthened the position in the offseason by signing Amik Roberts, trading for Carlton Davis, drafting Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw Jr., and signing Terrion Arnold.
