Many people anticipated that Bill Belichick would become a head coach, but that didn’t happen, in part because organizations are choosing to hire younger coaches—a move made by the Rams seven years ago when they hired Sean McVay and saw success as a result of their foresight.
Still, if the allegations are accurate, Bill did get a coaching job, albeit as Kyle Shanahan’s defensive coordinator. Kay Adams surmised that Kyle might be trying to irritate McVay by making this offer to Bill.

McVay spoke on the Rams’ expectations for the next season on a recent episode of “Up & Adams Show.” Adams appeared to touch a nerve throughout the segment when she mentioned Belichick’s name.
Sean McVay gets angry at Bill Belichick-Kyle Shanahan joke
She asked the head coach of the Rams if he felt sorry for the head coach of the former Patriots, claiming that coaches like Sean are the reason Bill doesn’t have a head coaching position in the NFL.
In light of the fact that the Patriots defeated the Rams in the Super Bowl by holding them to just a field goal, McVay made a joke suggesting that Belichick ought to feel bad for embarrassing him. Then Kay made an offensive suggestion that did not make the Super Bowl-winning coach laugh: she implied that Shanahan’s choice to give Bill the position of defensive coordinator was an attempt to irritate Sean.
But McVay saw nothing funny in Adams’s idea and emphasized that Shanahan should be more concerned about other matters. However, that didn’t make Kay stop grinning.
” How does he feel for embarrassing me and scoring a whopping three points in the Super Bowl? You really think that’s funny, Kay? I love Kyle. There’s a lot of respect but I think he’s got bigger things to worry about than pissing me off.”
After that night in Atlanta, the Rams head coach was able to win the Lombardy Trophy in just three seasons. However, it always hurts to lose the opening game, particularly when you are outplayed and only manage to score three points after captaining one of the top offenses all season.
Out of the humiliation of Super Bowl 53, there was one positive development. Instead of moping, McVay built a positive rapport with Belichick.
