Kevin Garnett‘s efforts at the 2000 Olympics contributed to the addition of another Gold medal to his collection of honors. KG’s one-on-one matchup with nearly the whole USA squad was really spectacular.
The fact that Larry Brown had to close the gym due to his overwhelming might makes this even more amazing. In a previous episode of KG Certified, the legendary Boston Celtics player talked about his experience with Team USA.
Kevin Garnett talks about his dominance 1v1
Garnett’s easy scoring led to a brewing argument, which ultimately resulted in Larry Brown’s judgment during a drill Jason Kidd frequently participated in. He said,
“We were almost fighting. J-Kidd had a drill called one-on-one full court. When I would score, I would come down the hill. So, you’re waiting on me and I got the whole court. So, I was going to elbows, getting to my spots.”
“Bunch of sh*t-talking to whatever man. And me and Reef(Shareef Abdur-Rahim) almost got to fighting. Larry Brown had to take the ball—had to shut the gym down and get us out of there.”
KG had enough of time and room to aim for the best shot thanks to the exercise. The defender was waiting for him when he made one, so he had to go downward. Garnett was able to surprise the defender by doing so.

In the video up above, “The Franchise” faces off against Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Vince Carter, and Jason Kidd. And KG just does not miss throughout the entire experience. taking two deep shots over Carter and Abdur-Rahim in the course of the practice.
Garnett’s trash-talking, “in your face” attitude became more dominant as he settled into his rhythm, almost resulting in an altercation with Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
