Udonis Haslem Responds to Dwyane Wade Nail Polish Controversy

Dwayne Wade has made it his goal to mainstream nail painting among men. However, he hasn’t had an easy time because his pastime has drawn a lot of trolling on the Internet. In light of this, NBA great Udonis Haslem vehemently defended his old running partner on the Miami Heat for having painted his nails. In an interview with Patrick Beverley, UD praised The Flash for setting new standards in fashion.

Asserting that Wade is doing appropriately, Haslem expressed gratitude to his friend for challenging conventional wisdom and bringing about a change in viewpoint.

Haslem also emphasized Wade’s backing for his transgender daughter Zaya Wade, who came out in 2020.

UD thought about how his old teammate, who accepted his daughter for who she is and helped normalize her identity in public places, is an amazing parent.

The 44-year-old made the observation that Wade’s backing will guarantee his kid doesn’t experience troubles related to abandonment. UD was therefore perplexed as to why Wade is chastised for his decisions. Why should it be a huge issue if dad Wade wants to paint his nails with his kid? It represents good parenting and putting one’s true self forth to the world, in his opinion. He said,

My dawg [Wade] has always been a trendsetter when it comes to fashion, he’s always not giving a fu**, he has always been willing to push the odds a little bit. He’s been doing nothing wrong by supporting his kids…So, regardless of that, sitting at home, painting his nails with his daughters, so f- what!

Put differently, Haslem wants Wade’s critics to quit hating him for acting as a dad should. Haslem continued, saying :

In the world today, when we see so many girls that grow up and have daddy issues, and he’s making sure that don’t happen. And we criticise that sh*t. Stop that sh*t, that’s hatin,’”
