In today’s game between the Detroit Lions and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay secured a 20-16 victory in a close contest. The game was marked by standout performances from quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Chris Godwin. Mayfield showcased his ability to evade pressure, leading to key plays, including a 41-yard touchdown pass to Godwin, who finished the game with 117 receiving yards. The Buccaneers’ defense also played a crucial role, with important stops late in the game and two interceptions of Lions’ quarterback Jared Goff.
Tampa Bay’s defensive players, including Christian Izien and Zyon McCollum, contributed with interceptions that shifted momentum in their favor, helping them hold off Detroit in the fourth quarter.
Unfortunately after the game violence broke out.
One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting at Eastern Market after the Detroit Lions game.
It happened in the area of Shed 6 in Eastern Market, a popular area for tailgating, and Chief James White said the suspect is in custody.
We’re told the suspect is a man in his 30s from Oak Park and is a CPL holder.
Police say that it started as a fight and escalated into a shooting.
‘A large fight broke out (which) disbursed after a few minutes,’ the chief said during a news briefing near the shooting scene.
‘They reconvened a few feet away from where the initial fight started. The two fighters put up their hands like they were about to fight each other … one of the people in the fight, a male from Oak Park, pulls out a gun and fires at least twice. Two people were struck.’
“This is ridiculous. It’s absolutely ridiculous,” White said after the shooting.
White said that there were officers in the area because of the large gatherings and tailgates, and that they actually heard the gunshots and responded.
According to White, they are looking at if they knew each other, but they are still investigating.
“Tailgating, drinking, guns, they don’t mix,” White said. “It’s a beautiful day. It shouldn’t have led to this.”
