Von Miller, the star linebacker for the Buffalo Bills, has been suspended for four games by the National Football League (NFL) after violating the league’s “personal conduct policy.”
The league has not disclosed the specific details of Miller’s violation, but it is clear that his actions were serious enough to warrant a suspension. As a key player for the Buffalo Bills, Miller’s absence on the field will undoubtedly impact the team’s performance.
The linebacker has been suspended without pay for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
Miller will eligible for reinstatement on October 28 following the Bills’ Week 8 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
He could make his return to the field for the Bills’ Week 9 matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Buffalo.
It is currently unclear how Miller violated the policy. However, the ban comes almost a year after authorities issued an arrest warrant for Miller for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman, who was later identified as his girlfriend.
Miller turned himself into police in suburban Dallas on November 30, 2023. He indicated something happened between him and his girlfriend, but stressed it did not approach what he is alleged of doing.
According to a police affidavit which officers wrote, Miller twice put his hands on the neck of the woman, pulled out a chunk of her hair and threw her onto a couch. The woman was treated for minor injuries, including bruising on her neck, police said.
The woman later recanted her story and the case was dropped.
He adamantly denied the accusations of domestic violence at the time, telling the media: ‘All of it is incorrect. All of it is untrue.
‘Never in any of my relationships that I’ve been in, never in my current relationship with my girlfriend, did any of those things happen.
‘It is 100 per cent false. It’s overblown.’
It’s another reminder that even professional athletes have to play by the rules. So let this be a lesson to all the up-and-coming players out there: stay on the right side of the NFL’s ‘personal conduct policy’ if you want to keep playing the game you love.
