According to authorities, 21-year-old Deziree Hood allegedly had a different kind of nightlife strategy.
Hood was taken into custody after she was accused of stealing expensive jewelry and other valuables from two men she met at nightclubs. Yes, apparently the night out came with an unexpected extra charge.
And it was not on the bar tab.
According to the allegations, Hood met the men while they were enjoying themselves at nightclubs. What happened next allegedly turned a fun night out into a police matter.
Authorities say the men ended up missing pricey jewelry and valuables after meeting Hood.
Per the report, Miami law enforcement once described the suspect as an “escort” who had the following modus operandi:
“Meeting victims at nightlife establishments, accompanying them to their residences or hotels and leaving with valuables after they fell asleep.”
According to the outlet, Hood is accused of targeting two men at a strip club called Booby Trap on the River in August and September.
WPLG’s report states that both alleged incidents occurred after the victims took Hood home from the strip club, which is located at 3615 NW South River Drive in Miami.
That is certainly one way to make a memorable first impression.
Miami police said that on Aug. 9, a man celebrating his birthday at the strip club brought an “unknown” woman home to his Airbnb, where the pair “continued drinking in an upstairs bedroom,” the outlet reports.
At some point during the meeting, the man “placed two gold chains on the bathroom counter, took a shower and went to sleep.” The victim’s brother told authorities he saw Hood “rushing out the front door while speaking on the phone.” After waking his brother, they discovered the gold chains, valued at $110,000, were missing, per the station.
Fingerprints collected at the home were reportedly traced back to Hood, and a detective recognized the suspect from a prior arrest in surveillance video obtained from Booby Trap, according to WPLG.
Most people leave a nightclub with a phone number, a headache or a story they probably should not tell their friends. These men allegedly left wondering where their jewelry went.
A second man went to police after he met two women, one of whom was later identified as Hood, at Booby Trap and brought them back to his home. Authorities said the women “brought a bottle of Don Julio tequila, and one poured a shot into the victim’s mouth, which he later spit out. One of his friends also consumed several shots,” per the outlet.
The victim reportedly told investigators he could not remember the rest of the morning and woke to find both women gone, along with valuables from his SUV.
“His roommate reported hearing what sounded like vehicle doors slamming at approximately 7 a.m. The victim provided an Instagram handle associated with one of the women and reported observing an unknown substance in the remaining liquor. The empty tequila bottle remained at the scene with apparent lipstick stains,” a police report reviewed by WPLG states.
Detectives were able to recognize Hood in the surveillance video, and the victim later picked her out of a photo lineup. The second victim told police the stolen jewelry, apparel and cash were worth more than $25,000, per the outlet.
Hood is now dealing with the consequences of the accusations after being taken into custody.
The lesson here is painfully simple: enjoy the music, enjoy the company and have fun.
But maybe keep your expensive jewelry where you can see it.
