Jimmy Butler Discusses the WNBA’s Development

Over 54 million people watched the WNBA’s 28th season on all platforms. With the league selling out 109 more games than the previous season, in-game attendance also increased dramatically. As Jimmy Butler noted during his CNN appearance, the NBA community has taken notice of the league’s expansion.

The six-time All-Star was asked by host Laura Coates how he felt about the WNBA’s growth. Butler stated: “I love it,” . “I have a daughter, so, this could be my daughter one of these days. I pray that that’s my daughter one of these days.”

In 2019, Rylee, Butler’s daughter, was born. Therefore, “one of these days” is still ten years or more off. However, Jimmy is thrilled about the chances the WNBA’s expansion will bring to young women like his daughter, much like Kobe Bryant was thrilled to have his daughter play in the league. The 35-year-old went on to say that the league has also given him opportunities to learn.

The Miami Heat player went on to say: “I learned how to do so many things better on the floor because of women. I show my daughter tons of women’s highlights, of what it takes to be a pro, what it’s like to be a role model. So, they teach me so much, they teach my daughter so much and I’m grateful. Very, very grateful,”

Throughout the off-season, he was quite appreciative of the WNBA. The NBA player was seen at a WNBA game in Los Angeles.
