Monte Morris Explains Passing to Devin Booker or Kevin Durant

This summer, Monte Morris inked a contract with the Phoenix Suns. In the team’s opening game against the Lakers, he made his preseason debut. The Suns are preparing to play the Pistons again after winning both of their preseason games thus far. Morris is currently dealing with a condition that any athlete in the league would like to have.

Morris recently told the media that he had an abundance of options. He frequently struggles to decide who he should pass the ball to during games.

Having Devin Booker and Kevin Durant on your side means that this issue will inevitably arise, but it’s a good one to have. He stated:

“I know a lot of attention will be on them [the Suns Big 3] so…I’ll be able to show what I’m good at. Just find the shooters…I had Book running the lane and Kevin, and they both was like, ‘I’m right here! I’m right here!’ So you gotta make a choice, but it feels good to know if pass it to any of those guys, 9 times outta 10 it’s gonna be a bucket.”

The passing load is cut in half when Bradley Beal, Book, and KD are on the squad. These three have the ability to dominate games with threes, mid-range, and from the rim. Therefore, a passer only needs to ensure that they are fed the appropriate ball at the appropriate moment.

Last season, playmaking was one of the franchise’s main issues, but this season, they appear to have more control over it. Tyus Jones and Monte Morris have combined for 21 assists and one turnover in the two preseason games.

By any measure, that 21:1 assist-to-turnover ratio is excellent. However, the Suns are only beginning. Making more three-pointers is another crucial area they must concentrate on for the upcoming campaign.
