Every football fan is aware that Aaron Rodgers hasn’t been himself lately. Given that he is 40 years old and just recovered from a season-ending Achilles injury, Rodgers’ decline makes sense. Fans, however, might not be aware of just how sharp his decline is.
Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports examined Rodgers’ difficulties earlier this week on his radio and television program, The Herd. Cowherd contrasted Rodgers’ stats since 2022 with those of several other NFL quarterbacks, such as Joe Flacco, Derek Carr, and Geno Smith.
Unexpectedly, Rodgers wasn’t a glaringly superior level. In actuality, he wasn’t demonstrably superior to any of the three. The way Rodgers lined up against Jared Goff, however, was the biggest surprise.
According to Cowherd, Goff’s second-half output (seen below, 2H) has been on par with Rodgers’ full-game performances throughout the last two seasons.
Yards Passed: Goff 2H 5,024; Rodgers 5,082
Pass TD: Goff 2H – 32, 20 yards; Rodgers – 35. Completions: Goff 2H – 70; Rodgers – 73
Despite being skewed, the stats certainly reveal that the Jets quarterback has fallen short of his high expectations. In the past, Rodgers was the quarterback whose second-half output surpassed the full-year statistics of others. But things have changed.
The Jets (2-5) have dropped their last four games. Over the past two weeks, Rodgers has shown some life, surpassing 275 throwing yards in each game. However, his usual efficiency is no longer there.
