Woody Johnson Gets Criticized by Richard Sherman for Firing Robert Saleh

Robert Saleh had been with the Jets for three years, but it only took 90 seconds when owner Woody Johnson entered the office to terminate him. The NFL community was taken aback by the decision, despite the fact that the team hasn’t performed well under Saleh.

Fans, the media, and the commentators were all involved in this. Former Seahawks CB Richard Sherman has been a vocal opponent of this decision. Sherman attacked Johnson in a recent podcast. He found it incomprehensible that Saleh was hauled out of the building after being fired before he had a chance to address the players.

Richard Sherman slams Jets treatment of Robert Saleh

Sherman expressed his displeasure with the former HC’s treatment, saying he felt the choice was more of a haphazard one. He stated: ” From what we’re hearing, they’re saying Woody Johnson walked into his office and fired him in 90 seconds, have the security escort him out of the building without giving him a chance to talk to his team, without any conversation and no explanation. That’s the part that bothers me the most- No Explanation.”

However, Johnson thought that even with a talented squad, the team was not making an impression. The owner disclosed that the decision had been considered for years, despite the common belief that it was decided following the heartbreaking 23-17 loss to the Vikings.

Though he felt the club was prepared to move on to new leadership, he acknowledged the old coach for his efforts and hard work. Regarding the same, Johnson spoke about:

“This is probably the best team I’ve had in 25 years. I just felt that the best way to go forward with a new direction. Taking Jeff Ulbrich and making him the interim head coach, I thought that would get the most out of this team and give us the best chance that we all want to have, which is going to the playoffs.”

Actually, it’s the first time in 25 years that the owner has fired a coach in the middle of a season.Richard Sherman, meanwhile, restated how improperly the decision has been handled. The Jets should at least provide the former coach, who was “blindsided,” with a reasonable explanation.
