After losing to the Kings in the play-in round, the Warriors‘ miserable 2023–24 campaign came to an end. The squad is undergoing changes, and Moses Moody anticipates being a key player in the team’s attempt to recover in the next season.
The dynamic 22-year-old averaged 17.5 minutes per game in 66 games played last season. He wasn’t happy with his playing time, but he used it as motivation to improve during the offseason, forcing head coach Steve Kerr to increase his playing time. He stated during a press conference: “I didn’t play as much as I wanted to last year, so I obviously wasn’t in the place I needed to be. Over the summer I put a lot of work in on the smaller things, the details, so training camp is your first opportunity to really showcase that work. Not even necessarily looking for the gratification this early on.”

Moses Moody talks about being on bench
Even though Moody anticipates playing a lot more than he did the previous season, he is aware that his plan may not work out. He stated:
“If anybody doesn’t get what they want, it’s going to mess with them to a certain level, but as a grown-up, you gotta think of it like that. It’s a job.”
Kerr has already made hints that the 22-year-old’s playing time may be a concern for the forthcoming season. He asserted during a news conference that Moody must earn his playing time because the Warriors have a deep roster. He stated:
“We’ve got 12-13 guys, who are all really good players. This is probably the deepest team I’ve seen here, in terms of rotational guys. Moses is a rotational player.”

Last season, the versatile guard made an impact. He shot 46.2% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc, averaging 8.2 points per game. When Thompson had a bad stretch and was benched for Brandin Podziemski, Warriors supporters on social media begged the coaching staff to give Moody more playing time.
But their cries went unanswered. The guard has never openly lamented his lack of playing time, and he will not do so in the forthcoming campaign either, despite the fans’ unwavering demands.
