Six days after being released from jail, a guy from North Carolina was charged with the murders of his mother and teenage brother.
According to WITN, 25-year-old Da’ron Jenkins was released on Tuesday last week after serving almost five years in prison for stealing firearms and breaking into cars. His mother, 50-year-old Dana Jenkins, posted on Facebook: “I have a baby at home! Thank you, Lord!
However, Jenkins was quickly sent back to prison after being charged with the first-degree murders of his mother and his brother, Daryn Cox, 15, who were discovered dead in their Wilson, North Carolina, home, some 40 miles east of Raleigh.
Authorities have not provided a probable motive or explained how the two perished.
But according to Julia Kornegay, a cousin who lives next door, the mother and kid were fatally stabbed; their bodies were discovered just hours after she saw the culprit “looking like he just got out of a mental ward,” Julia told CBS 17.
I could tell he had done something by the expression on his face. He had cuts on his hand. When she saw Jenkins at around three in the morning on Monday, she added, “And he had a bandage on his hand.”
According to the cousin, Jenkins had been exhibiting concerning symptoms ever since he was released from prison. He appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday.
The local church community remembered both Daryn and his mother.
