A woman accused of having a sexual relationship with a minor at Imperial Beach’s Mar Vista High School has been taken into custody by San Diego Sheriff’s officers, the Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
RO Healthcare, a third-party contractor that Mar Vista High School uses, employs 31-year-old Lisette Ortega Veles as a contractual student support assistant.
On May 19, deputies were called to look into a reported sexual interaction with a 17-year-old student, according to the Sheriff’s Office. In order to assist deputies with their investigation, detectives from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Sexual Assault Unit also responded to the call.
Investigators had reasonable suspicion that Ortega Veles had engaged in unlawful sexual relations with a minor, spoken to a minor with the intention of committing a lewd act, attempted to dissuade a victim, and engaged in oral copulation on a minor.
On Wednesday, May 21, Ortega Veles was taken into custody by deputies and checked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility.
She will be arraigned on Friday, May 23, and is now being jailed on $250,000 bail.
