Just minutes into the first quarter of last Sunday’s game, Tyrese Haliburton was on fire, making three long-range baskets. However, a ripped Achilles quickly left him on the ground, distraught. Despite their best efforts, the Pacers were eventually unable to overcome the Thunder. Many questioned whether Haliburton’s presence may have written a different conclusion as OKC triumphed 103-91.
But even before Haliburton went down, Dwyane Wade had made an intriguing prediction. The Thunder won by a minimum of 12 points, as he confidently predicted, and that’s exactly what happened.
Dwyane Wade talks about Tyrese Haliburton’s impact
The Hall of Famer claimed to have a good idea of how the last game will play out in an interview with the Time Out podcast. He trusted the Thunder and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
He believed that the Thunder would prevail despite Haliburton’s injury. He stated:
“No one could’ve called that [Haliburton’s injury] but with Hali or without Hali, this was inevitable.”
Nonetheless, he acknowledged the importance of the 25-year-old guard. When the star guard departed the game, he pointed out that Indiana was obviously missing him.
Chris Johnson, a former college basketball standout who also made an appearance on the program, expressed a similar opinion. He likened the point guard to a quarterback, who is in charge of everything. Their leadership and presence are vital, even if they are having a bad offensive night.
