JJ Watt is quite happy with TJ Watt’s huge new contract. The NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback is currently the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ pass rusher.
Watt was scheduled to miss training camp in order to pursue a new contract, and he skipped Steelers OTAs and minicamp. If the Steelers were unable to reach an agreement on a deal, he was even mentioned in trade negotiations.
Watt became one of the highest-paid players in the league when the two parties were able to reach a consensus. On Thursday, Watt agreed to a three-year, $123 million contract with the Steelers.
$108 million in guarantees are included in the contract. It barely beats out Myles Garrett’s current contract, which pays him $40 million a season.
JJ celebrated his brother on social media as soon as the transaction was revealed. He wrote on X: “Earned. Deserved. Incredible,”
Earned.
Deserved.
Incredible. @_TJWatt @steelers— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) July 17, 2025
TJ’s new contract was worth almost as much as his brother’s 12-year playing career. During his 12 years with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, JJ made just about $130 million. JJ had another hilarious comment on a career earnings post comparison. Check it out.
I swear, if this guy even lets me begin to reach for my wallet at dinner… https://t.co/R52TsWBgYP
