Here’s the scoop on what went down with Gilbert Arenas. He’s got himself into some hot water with the law because of some sketchy stuff like gambling and getting arrested. And get this – a fan actually had the guts to warn him about the lawyer fees he’d be racking up. Like, seriously? As if Gilbert didn’t already know he was in deep trouble.

Hours after his arrest, former Washington Wizards All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas posted a video of himself dancing towards his new bride, Melli Monaco, after he was released from custody.
Authorities took Arenas into custody on Wednesday on illegal gambling charges. In the afternoon, he appeared in a downtown Los Angeles court to plead not guilty and pay a $50,000 bail that gave him temporary freedom.
In his post, Arenas denied being part of any illegal gambling ring but admitted that the other suspects rented his Los Angeles home.
According to a release from the United States Attorney’s Office of California, via ESPN, Arenas was arrested due to a federal indictment that accuses him of hosting illegal high-stakes poker games inside a mansion he owns in Encino, California.
The indictment alleges that from Sept. 2021 to July 2022, Arenas and five others ran illegal high-stakes “Pot Limit Omaha” poker games and other illegal gambling activities at Arenas’ house, with poker players paying a fee for each hand gambled.
One of the defendants also allegedly hired chefs, valets, armed security guards, and young women who served drinks and provided ‘massages’ for tips. The defendants also took a cut from the women’s tips.
One of the other five persons charged in the case is Yevgeni “Giora” Gershman, a suspected member of an Israeli crime group. Gershman is also facing several charges in the U.S., including marriage fraud and lying on immigration documents. He and a Los Angeles woman are accused of entering into a sham marriage to acquire permanent legal status in the United States.
Officially, Gil is charged with one count of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling ring, one count of operating an illegal gambling business and one count of making false statements to federal investigators.
The third charge came after Arenas allegedly lied about his knowledge of the illegal activities inside his house. The indictment said that Arthur Kats, an associate of Gil, ran the poker games and collected the rent on his behalf. But apparently, prosecutors have proof otherwise.
