The domestic abuse case against Gervonta Davis has been dismissed. Almost two months after the well-known boxer was charged with assaulting the mother of his two children, a Miami-Dade County court official informed us that the case was dismissed on Tuesday.
Why officials made the decision is unknown. We have contacted Davis’ lawyer and prosecutors for comment, but we have not heard back as of yet.
After the accused victim in the case notified Doral Police that the pugilist had struck her during a fight in June, on Father’s Day, Davis was placed in jail on July 11. She said that following a verbal altercation, Davis became violent with her when she was picking up his children.
She said to the police that he slapped her on the right side of her face after hitting her in the back of the head when she was trying to get her daughter out of the back seat. During the altercation, she apparently suffered a slight laceration on the inside of her lip.
Since his detention, Davis has refrained from discussing the issue in public.
