Damian Lillard Slams Kevin Love’s Gambling Meme, Prompted Deletion and Apology

Kevin Love found himself in hot water this week after posting a meme mocking Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier following their arrests in the NBA gambling probe. The meme, showing the pair styled like a viral “Coldplay couple” image with the caption “NO (Draft) KINGS!!!”, immediately drew criticism from Damian Lillard, who fired back on social media: “Weak a–– s––t.”

Love quickly realized his joke missed the mark. After speaking with Lillard, he deleted the post and issued public apology. “Dame opened my eyes to this being a real‑life situation for two of my former teammates and brothers,” Love wrote, adding that he took the post down “because we all know they are going through it. As are their collective families.

Kevin Love is a veteran forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Damian Lillard is the star guard for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Love admitted he often posts humor online, but this time he misjudged the tone. The incident highlights how sensitive the NBA is around gambling-related controversies, especially when high-profile players face legal trouble.
