Nikola Jović, a Forward for the Heat Ink, Will Get a Four-Year Rookie Extension

The Heat seem to have locked up a vital player for the long term during a year of transition. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Wednesday night that Miami forward Nikola Jović, who is represented by the team, is inking a $62.4 million four-year contract extension with the team.

After being selected 27th in the 2022 draft, the 22-year-old Serbian international, who was born in Leicester, England, advanced further in 2025, his third season of play. During his time with the Heat, Jović averaged 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game in 46 games, 10 of which he started.

Jović has had unusual postseason experience for a young player because of Miami’s recent success. With five starts and 16 games played, he averages 5.4 points per game (9.4 when his limited 2023 activity is taken into account).

The Heat will open 2026 against the Magic on October 22 after falling below.500 for the first time since 2019 in ’25.
