Klay Thompson Responds to Jason Williams Saying Megan Thee Stallion Privates Are Affecting His Play

Former NBA guard Jason Williams ignited social media debate this week after suggesting that the romantic relationship between Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson and rapper Megan Thee Stallion could be the primary cause of the four-time champion’s early-season struggles.

Williams, a 12-year NBA veteran, made the explicit remarks during an episode of the “Hoopin’ N Hollerin'” podcast, which he co-hosts with current NBA player Patrick Beverley.

The discussion centered on Thompson’s difficult start to the 2025-26 season. The veteran guard has been in a notable slump, with his field goal and three-point percentages hovering near career lows.

While discussing Thompson’s performance, and noting his recent high-profile relationship with Megan Thee Stallion, Williams offered a candid and highly scrutinized theory.

“I’m from West Virginia, man, I’ve been taught a lot from old folks, old white folks,” Williams said on the podcast. “It only takes one p**** to drag a battleship across the desert. That’s how powerful it is.”

Williams then applied the adage to the Warriors guard, stating: “Klay Thompson, I ain’t sayin’ that’s what it is … but that might be what it is.”

Co-host Patrick Beverley was present for the commentary, which quickly drew widespread attention from sports and entertainment outlets.

Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion had recently garnered media attention after sharing posts on social media that appeared to confirm they were living together.

While Williams pinned the blame on the hip-hop star, analysts have offered other possible factors for Thompson’s decline, including his age (35), his role in the offense, and the wear and tear from his accomplished 13-season career.

Megan Thee Stallion has not publicly commented on the remarks. The Golden State Warriors have also not issued a statement regarding the discussion on the podcast. The segment featuring the comments was uploaded to the podcast’s social media channels and various media websites.
