Chauncey Billups Heads To Trial While Damon Jones Negotiates A Plea Deal In Betting Scandal

Chauncey Billups is heading To trial while Damon Jones is negotiating a plea deal in the betting scandal.

You ever wake up, check the news, and think, “Wow, the NBA is starting to feel like a Netflix crime drama”?
Well, welcome to the NBA betting scandal.

Chauncey Billups is officially heading to trial after pleading not guilty to being part of an alleged mob-linked, high-tech poker scheme. That’s right. Not a regular “my buddy’s basement poker night,” but a full-blown scandal with rigged machines, and card-reading wizardry straight out of a CIA training video.

The feds basically said this was not a game, this was a business.

New details have emerged regarding the current status of Billups, Rozier, and Jones in the legal process, and it’s not looking favorable for the three of them.

“The indictment said that he [Chauncey Billups] was in one game in 2019 in Las Vegas and they paid him like 50 grand. But Terry Rozier, he’s part of the whole Johntay Porter illegal prop betting scandal. Actually Damon Jones is a part of both of them. I think he [Jones] is in talks for a plea deal right now,” per Lauren Colin.

“What is he [Jones] facing?” asked DJ Akademiks. “I mean, forty years. It’s conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Twenty years each. So is Chauncey,” Colin answered.

But while Billups is gearing up for a full trial showdown, Damon Jones is reportedly trying the “let’s make a deal” route. Yes, Jones, who was also swept up in this scandal, is rumored to be in talks with prosecutors.

So now we have Billups gearing up for a full courtroom battle, Jones reportedly looking for a plea deal, and NBA fans refreshing X like it’s draft night.
