Massive brawl breaks out in Boca Raton Bowl game

Tuesday night’s final moments of Bush’s Boca Raton Bowl turned into mayhem.

With less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter and a five-point lead against Toledo, Louisville decided to run it on a first-and-10 at the Rockets’ 33, with running back Isaac Brown scoring.

A Toledo defender took Brown out of bounds after he ran for six yards on the play, but another Rockets player came in late for a hit.

As more Toledo players arrived on the scene, tensions escalated, with Brown’s teammates defending him on the sidelines and bumping and shoving taking place.

After trying to diffuse the altercation, the referees gathered on the field and penalized both sides for unsportsmanlike behavior. In the 27-22 victory, Brown, a sophomore, ran for 102 yards and two scores.

In their third season under head coach Jeff Brohm, the Cardinals ended the season with a 9-4 record. The 54-year-old Brohm’s future is still unknown, although he has been connected to the Michigan position after Sherrone Moore was fired due to a “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member and then arrested.
