The official mugshot of former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was released Wednesday by the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, showing the 39-year-old in a black shirt with a tired, emotionless expression one week after his arrest on charges stemming from an alleged domestic incident with Paige Shiver.
He faces charges of home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering, and was released on $25,000 bond with conditions including GPS monitoring and mental health treatment. Moore made his first court appearance Friday and is due back in mid-January.
Shiver’s lawyer, Heidi Sharp, told authorities that Moore has a “long history” of domestic violence against her client and described him as “very dangerous,” adding that Shiver had never felt more terrified and contacted her immediately after the incident.
Upon being picked up by police later that day, Moore “denied physically assaulting [the staffer] and denied threatening her with any weapons,” Welker testified.
Washtenaw County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Kati Rezmierski tends to agree with Moore, saying: “There isn’t evidence to suggest that he directly threatened the victim with any of those implements.”
There are question marks surrounding Moore’s arrest that surely will be pointed out by
The University of Michigan has not commented on the allegations, and Moore’s attorney, Joe Simon, declined to provide a statement, saying he had not reviewed all documents. The case has drawn widespread attention in college football circles, with viral claims and unverified rumors circulating online about the relationship and incident.
There are questions surrounding Moore’s arrest that his attorney will surely raise. For one, if Shiver was so afraid of Moore and he had been texting her, why would she leave her door unlocked, knowing Moore knew where she lived? Also, if he had a history of domestic violence, why wasn’t any of it presented in court, and why wasn’t Moore charged with assault? If Shiver feared for her life, why did she call her lawyer instead of calling the cops herself? Furthermore, if Moore was this monster, why did she stay with him for two years, accept a 55% pay raise, and deny having a relationship when first asked?
