Micah Shrewsberry, the coach of Notre Dame, had to be restrained after becoming enraged at a call made by the referees during their defeat against California.
In the final sixteen seconds of the collegiate basketball game, the Fighting Irish blew a four-point lead and fell 72-71. When Dai Dai Ames made a 3-pointer to tie the score for California, it caused a great deal of controversy.
Logan Imes, a guard for Notre Dame, was judged to have fouled him while he was making the shot, therefore they were awarded an extra free throw.
After concluding that Imes’ foul occurred prior to Ames’ shot, which should have meant the basket was disallowed, officials later overturned their initial ruling.
However, after California coach Mark Madsen asserted that the foul occurred while Ames was shooting, the referees reversed their first ruling.
As a result, Ames was able to make a free throw to complete a four-point play and win by a slim margin. Shrewsberry became enraged and charged at one of the referees as the game was coming to an end.
The 49-year-old has to be restrained by one of his colleagues instructors in a startling video that has gone viral. Shrewsberry was incensed as he persisted in opposing the contentious call and made numerous attempts to contact the officials.
