Jimmy Butler Suffers Season-Ending ACL Tear

Jimmy Butler exited Monday night’s Warriors game against the Heat after being hit by Miami player Davion Mitchell while in the air and came down awkwardly while taking a pass from guard Brandin Podziemski.

After grabbing his right knee after the play, he left the game and was assisted to the locker room by Golden State teammates Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga. Butler seemed like he was in excruciating pain following the challenging landing; you can watch the play and the minutes that follow below:

Butler finished the game with 17 points, four assists, three rebounds, and two steals when the injury occurred with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter.

Due to a right knee injury, the Warriors promptly decided that he would not play again. Butler seemed cheerful as Hield and Gary Payton II assisted him off the ground, even though the injury seemed agonizing. He even managed a small smile.

Butler is averaging 20.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game in his first full season with the Warriors after being dealt by the Heat during last year’s trade deadline. Golden State is now 24–19, good for eighth place in the Western Conference. After Steph Curry, he is the team’s second-highest scorer.
