After six seasons with the team, the Browns dismissed coach Kevin Stefanski on Monday.
Stefanski thanked the franchise and the fans for believing in him in a message he posted shortly after the announcement. He was twice voted Coach of the Year and leaves the Browns with a 45-56 overall record.
Stefanski stated:
“After six seasons as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, I leave with an immense sense of gratitude,”
“When I arrived in January of 2020, this organization, this community and Browns fans embraced me and my family with open arms. I cannot express properly in words how good we have been treated. A sincere ‘Thank You’ to everyone who I have been so blessed to work for and with over these six seasons. I’d like to especially thank my coaching staff and the players who did everything that was ever asked of them. They fought through injury and adversity, while always putting the TEAM FIRST. I wish all of you nothing but success.”

Cleveland’s decision to cut ties with Stefanski appears to have been influenced by the team’s 4–13 and 5–12 results from the previous two seasons, respectively. A change was long overdue.
Stefanski is a prominent candidate for several coaching positions, so it’s likely that he will sign with a new NFL team this summer.
General manager Andrew Berry will spearhead the Browns’ hunt for Stefanski’s replacement for the 2026 campaign. This will be the organization’s eleventh new coach since the 1999 campaign. Over the previous more than 20 years, Cleveland has had trouble finding continuity in both coaching and the quarterback position.
