Concerns over the official investigation into the teen’s death, according to attorney Ben Crump, led to the second autopsy being performed outside of Mississippi.
The family of Nolan Wells, a Mississippi teen who disappeared while traveling to Horn Island with friends before his body was found, claims that former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick helped cover the cost of an independent autopsy outside of Mississippi. Attorney Ben Crump claims that this action was required due to what he considers to be “a serious trust issue there.”
During an appearance on “Good Morning America” with Wells’ parents, Christine and Elmore Wonsley, Crump stated that Wells’ body was flown from Mississippi to Washington, D.C., so the examination could be performed by an expert with no connection to local law enforcement.
Crump stated, citing what he refers to as a pattern of contradictions in the official narrative, such as assertions that Wells drowned even though no witnesses claimed to have seen it happen:
“There is an issue of trust here that is really important,”
The family claims that Wells’s friends’ accounts of what happened don’t add up. He was reportedly known for being close to his group and often checking in, but on the day of his death, that wasn’t the case.
