Newly released 911 audio reveals troubling details from the day former University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore lost his job and sparked a frantic emergency call from his wife.
In the recording obtained by outlets including TMZ Sports and published Thursday, Moore’s wife, Kelli Moore, can be heard sobbing and pleading with a Pittsfield Township 911 dispatcher to help locate her husband and ensure his safety. She told authorities she was “terrified he’s gonna do something to himself” after he called to say he was in crisis following his firing earlier in the day.
“He said he’s trying to kill himself,” Kelli told the dispatcher, explaining that she didn’t know his whereabouts but believed he was driving on a highway. She asked if police could track his phone out of fear for his well-being.
The 911 call came amid a dramatic unraveling of events on Dec. 10, 2025, when the University of Michigan announced Moore’s termination with cause after an internal investigation found he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a female staffer, Paige Shiver.
It should be noted that while Moore’s wife seems concerned about his safety, his mistress, Shiver, was more concerned about calling her lawyer when Moore was in distress.
Hours after his dismissal, law enforcement sources say Moore went to the staffer’s residence. Prosecutors later charged him with third-degree home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering. During that confrontation, Moore allegedly grabbed butter knives and scissors and threatened to harm himself, telling the woman:
“I am going to kill myself. I’m going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands. You ruined my life.”
Moore was located later that afternoon in a church parking lot and taken into custody. He was arraigned on the charges in Washtenaw County and released on bond; his next court date is scheduled later this month.
The released 911 audio highlights the emotional toll the situation has taken on Moore’s family as the legal and public fallout continues. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm, help is available 24/7 via 988 or at 988lifeline.org.
