Arrest Warrant Issued For Gervonta “Tank” Davis in Baltimore

A Maryland judge has issued an arrest warrant for boxing star Gervonta “Tank” Davis after finding he violated probation tied to his 2020 hit-and-run case, court records show via ESPN.

Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Althea M. Handy issued the warrant Monday, Feb. 3, 2026, according to Maryland court documents. The violation stems from Davis’ three-year probation sentence for the November 2020 crash in Baltimore that injured four people, including a pregnant woman.

Davis, 31, was originally sentenced in 2023 to 90 days of home detention, three years of probation, and 200 hours of community service. He previously served roughly six weeks in jail after violating the terms of his home confinement by staying in luxury accommodations instead of his trainer’s home.

The latest warrant comes just one week after Davis was arrested in Miami on domestic violence charges, including battery, false imprisonment, and attempted kidnapping.

Davis’ attorney in the Baltimore case, Hunter Pruette, asked the judge to recall the arrest warrant and issue a summons instead. In court filings, Pruette argued:

“Mr. Davis has appeared as directed, posted bond, complied with all conditions, remained within Florida, and promptly notified supervision of his arrest. Detaining him in Maryland would frustrate, not facilitate, compliance by impairing his ability to defend the Florida case and creating substantial logistical barriers to court appearances.”

This marks the latest in a series of legal issues for the former WBA lightweight champion, who has faced multiple probation violations in recent years, including an admitted violation in March 2025 that resulted in an 18-month extension of his probation and a $10,000 donation to charity.

The boxing world reacted quickly on social media. Ring Magazine noted the timing of the warrant relative to the Miami arrest, while fans and analysts expressed frustration over Davis’ ongoing legal troubles.

Davis remains one of boxing’s biggest pay-per-view attractions, though his legal problems continue to overshadow his accomplishments in the ring.

No court date has been set following the warrant’s issuance, and it is unclear if Davis has been taken into custody in Maryland.
