An English translation of the statement reads: “Yes, it is true that my relationship (engagement) has ended. It was a difficult personal situation, like any breakup, but I prefer to handle it with respect and maturity.”
Quirós, 24, added that his focus is now on his career and contributing to Xelajú MC, also known as the Superchivos. The club, based in Quetzaltenango, has not commented on the personal matter.
Nicolle, Quirós’ former fiancée, maintains an Instagram account under the handle @wendynicole___, where she shares lifestyle and creative content. She has not publicly addressed the breakup, though sources indicate she was displeased with the situation.
The rapid turnaround from engagement to separation drew widespread attention on social media, with the proposal video going viral and sparking discussions about public relationships in sports. Speculation about the reasons for the split, including unconfirmed reports of disagreements over a prenuptial agreement, circulated online but were not addressed by Quirós.
Quirós, a native of Costa Rica, has played in several Central American leagues, including stints in Honduras, El Salvador and Panama before joining Xelajú MC. He emphasized privacy and maturity in handling the matter, signaling a desire to move forward professionally.
