The internet is tired. But also very entertained. So here we are with Kayla Nicole. Iman Shumpert is responding to drama that sounds like it was written by a reality TV producer on three energy drinks. And somehow, a podcast tour made it worse, or better, depending on how messy you like your tea.
It all started when Kayla Nicole pulled up to the Unapologetically Angel hosted by Angel Reese. That’s when she dropped the story. According to Kayla, Iman allegedly dumped her by text message. Yes, text message. The classic “we need to talk” but without the talking.
She also claimed he had been less than honest about his relationship with Teyana Taylor. Months of confusion, months of “we’re just cool” and then boom. Breakup via SMS. Modern romance is thriving.
Kayla Nicole tells Angel the pettiest thing she has done in a relationship 🤣😅

“We weren’t in [a] relationship, but this is probably one of my favorite crazy Kayla stories, because I don’t have that many,” she told Reese. “But I’m a scorpio, and I have that crazy in me, though.”
Nicole explained, “I was dating a guy, and he dumped me through a text message, and he dumped me for this singer/actress.”
But wait. It gets better.
Kayla admitted she did something “petty.” Her word, not mine. She dressed up as Teyana for Halloween. Yes, full costume energy. That is elite-level heartbreak behavior. That’s not just petty, that’s creative direction.
“Dumped me for her. Lied about it for months, then popped out with her and became this public thing,” Nicole continued, adding that fans viewed them as a “celebrity iconic relationship.”
Nicole said her petty moment came when she dressed up as the singer and actress for Halloween that same year.
“I dressed up as her. I dressed up as that lady for Halloween,” she said with a smile. She added the “viral” pictures were still “there somewhere” on the internet.
Although Nicole never named anyone, it didn’t take long for web sleuths to dig up old photos of her dressed as Teyana Taylor when she starred in Kanye West’s 2016 music video for “Fade.”
Naturally, the internet grabbed popcorn.
Fast forward. Iman sits down on Club Shay Shay with Shannon Sharpe. Because if you’re going to clear your name, you might as well do it with Shannon staring at you intensely across a microphone.
Iman basically said, “Hold on.” He claimed Kayla later called him and apologized for putting everything out there. According to him, she admitted she shouldn’t have spilled the tea publicly.
“Me and Kay are good friends. It’s not like a thing where I’m going to be mad at her because she did that. She low key was just speaking her truth. It was a funny story honestly. … She hit me up, and that’s what I do appreciate about Kay. She hit me up and was like, ‘I’m so sorry. I wasn’t thinking. I’m trying to tell a funny story on the spot.’’
So now we have two versions. One says she got dumped via text after months of confusion, the other says she later realized maybe the podcast confessional was unnecessary.
And the internet? The internet doesn’t care about facts, the internet cares about vibes.
Was there a messy breakup? Probably. Was there miscommunication? Absolutely. Was Halloween involved? Unfortunately, yes!
The real winner here might be Shannon Sharpe, because every time someone has relationship drama, they end up on his couch explaining themselves like it’s therapy with microphones.
At the end of the day, love is complicated, text messages are dangerous and podcasts? Podcasts are undefeated.
One thing is clear: if you’re going to date in the public eye, make sure your breakup plan doesn’t include screenshots, costumes, or a surprise podcast tour.
