Married Teacher Danielle Weaver Arrested For Having Relationship With Student

A Leesburg, Ga. Married high school teacher and mother of two has been arrested on charges of child molestation and improper sexual contact involving a student under 18, authorities said.

Danielle Weaver, 29, of Leesburg, turned herself in Wednesday to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and was released on bond, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and local reports.

Weaver, formerly employed at Lee County High School in the Lee County School System, faces charges of child molestation and improper sexual contact by an employee, agent or foster parent, the GBI announced in a news release.

The investigation began Feb. 3 after Lee County High School officials requested that the Leesburg Police Department look into allegations of inappropriate contact between a teacher and a student, authorities said. A former teacher gave them the tip. The GBI was brought in to assist the following day.

Investigators identified Weaver as the suspect and the alleged victim as a juvenile student at the school. Arrest warrants were obtained Tuesday, and Weaver was taken into custody without incident the next day.

The Lee County School System informed parents in a message Feb. 5 that a staff member was no longer employed by the district and that leaders “acted immediately to ensure the safety and well-being of students” upon learning of the allegations.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, the GBI said. Once complete, the case file will be turned over to the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Lee County High School’s communications team did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Weaver’s bond was set at $50,000, and she posted bond by late Wednesday, according to local news outlets. Specific details about the nature of the alleged contact were not released by authorities.
