FSU Kicker Conor McAneney’s Mugshot Goes Viral After Fight With Cops

Florida State University kicker Conor McAneney was arrested Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale on felony charges including battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer with violence, authorities said.

McAneney, a 20-year-old sophomore from Plumbridge, Northern Ireland, was taken into custody around 2:30 a.m. at Rock Bar on Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard, according to Fort Lauderdale police and Broward County jail records.

Police said McAneney had been removed from multiple bars during the evening for causing disturbances. At Rock Bar, he was trespassed from the property. When officers attempted to detain him, he became uncooperative and violent, according to an arrest report.

“The defendant began to grab onto the barrier gates to the business, so I grabbed him under his arms in attempt to make him release his grip,” an officer wrote. “Once away from the bar, I let go of the defendant who then grabbed my arm/shirt and attempted to pull me down, placing me off balance, (and) nearly falling through the barrier into the roadway where traffic was flowing.”

The officer struck McAneney twice in the face, brought him to the ground, and reported that he continued to resist arrest. McAneney faces charges of battery on a police officer, firefighter or EMT; resisting an officer with violence; and trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance. The first two are third-degree felonies.

His bond was set at $2,750, but as of Thursday morning, March 19, 2026, he remained in custody at the Broward Main Jail.

McAneney, a 6-foot-3, 191-pound transfer from Division II Quincy University, joined the Seminoles in January 2026. At Quincy in 2025, he converted 7 of 10 field goal attempts with a long of 45 yards and handled kickoffs, averaging 60.2 yards per attempt with 16 touchbacks on 49 kicks.

Florida State athletics officials confirmed McAneney has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities following the arrest. No further comment was immediately available from the university or McAneney’s representatives.

The incident occurred during spring break, with prosecutors noting McAneney was visiting South Florida. Court proceedings are pending.
