If toxic relationships were a sport, Paige Spiranac says golf would win a trophy.
The golf influencer recently admitted she has a full-blown love-hate relationship with the game. And honestly? Every golfer felt that in their soul.
According to Paige, golf is addictive. Like “I’m never playing again” on Sunday, and “tee time at 8 a.m.” on Monday addictive. The sport will humble you, frustrate you, embarrass you, and then pull you right back in with one perfect shot.
It’s emotional damage with grass. Golf looks peaceful, blue skies, green fairways, calm vibes, but behind that calm exterior is chaos. One swing makes you feel like a champion, the next swing makes you question your coordination as a human being.
During a fan Q&A on her Instagram story on Sunday, the golfer and model revealed that she had a ‘love-hate relationship’ with the sport.
‘I’ve always said that golf is the reason I’m in therapy, and it’s also my therapy,’ she said.
‘It can be so infuriating at times where you just want to quit and never want to look at your golf clubs ever again.
‘But then when I am stressed, or frustrated, or going through something, there is nothing more relaxing than just going to the range, putting my music on and just beating balls for hours.’
‘This is why golf is so addicting and also why I have such a love-hate relationship with the game,’ she said.
‘Because you can be standing on the first tee, do everything correctly… and you could just have the best round of your life or the worst.
‘You never know what you’re going to get. It’s full of surprises but it always keeps you coming back for more.’
Paige calling it a love-hate relationship feels accurate. Golf gives you just enough joy to forget the pain it caused five minutes earlier.
It’s dramatic, emotional and slightly unhinged.
And golfers wouldn’t have it any other way.
So yes, Paige Spiranac loves golf, she hates golf, she’s addicted to golf, and she’ll probably be back on the course tomorrow, because once golf gets you, it doesn’t let go.
