Former NFL running back Le’Veon Bell drew swift criticism on social media Friday after posting about rapper Latto’s pregnancy, calling it a poor example for women.
Bell, 33, shared the comment on X shortly after Latto incorporated her pregnancy into the rollout for her upcoming album “Big Mama,” including visuals in her “Business & Personal” music video. The post referenced Latto’s relationship with fellow rapper 21 Savage, whom Bell described as a married father of three.
“Latto just announced she’s pregnant by a married man with 3 kids and made it part of her ALBUM ROLL OUT .. and that’s who today’s women look up to? we’re doomed 😭,” Bell wrote in the tweet, which garnered more than 16,000 likes and hundreds of replies within hours.
Latto, 26, whose real name is Alyssa Stephens, had previously trolled pregnancy rumors before confirming them publicly. 21 Savage, whose real name is Sheyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, has been linked to Latto since at least 2025, when she referred to him as her “husband” in interviews. Reports indicate he married Keyanna Joseph in 2020 and shares children with her, though details on the marriage’s status remain unconfirmed in public records.

Social media users quickly pushed back, accusing Bell of overstepping and inserting himself into private matters.
“Exactly, nobody elected Le’Veon Bell the spokesperson for Latto’s pregnancy. Some situations require silence and this was absolutely one of them,” one user wrote in reply to the original post.
Another added: “Le’veon Bell got opinions on Latto’s pregnancy with 21. Man speaking on somebody else’s business like it affects him. Keep that energy for your own lane honestly.”
Critics also referenced Bell’s own past relationship controversies, including public disputes over multiple pregnancies during his playing days.
“Boy shut up. Latto is a good girl who has been with 21 for 6 years. Dude is mad because she curved him,” @Birdshu posted.
“Everyone knows he got married during his citizenship issues. His wife even liked Latto’s IG post. Stop the madness and mind your own damn business,” @Msaoates wrote, gaining several thousand views.
Others dismissed the controversy outright.
“Shut up! We all know he only married his BM for immigration purposes. Her a Latto cool,” one reply stated.
Bell appeared to walk back the intensity of his initial post later Friday, tweeting that he still supports Latto’s music: “love Latto music tho 🔥.” He also noted a shared political stance with her on another matter.
Neither Latto nor 21 Savage has publicly responded to Bell’s comments as of Friday afternoon. The episode comes amid ongoing online scrutiny of celebrity pregnancies and relationships in hip-hop.
Bell, who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and other teams before retiring, has remained active on social media since leaving the NFL. Latto’s “Big Mama” project is expected to drop soon.
