Seattle Storm guard Lexie Brown said Thursday she has received death threats and hired security after false online rumors accused her of having an affair with NBA veteran Klay Thompson during his relationship with rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
Brown, a 2021 WNBA champion, addressed the situation in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital after Megan Thee Stallion announced the end of her relationship with Thompson in a statement to TMZ on or around April 25, citing a lack of “trust, fidelity and respect.” Social media users quickly speculated that Brown was the other woman involved, despite no evidence being presented.
Brown first denied any involvement on April 26 via Instagram Stories, writing: “I’ve seen what’s being said online, and I want to be clear, none of it is true and I have no involvement in this situation.” The rumors continued to circulate, she said, prompting her to speak out further.
“I was getting threats on my life. I was getting threats on my health,” Brown told Fox News Digital. “My family started getting comments and threats from people. I’ve had to hire security to travel with me places. So it got to a point where I just was scared for myself.”
Brown, who has been open about her battle with Crohn’s disease, said the stress could have triggered a flare-up but that she is currently managing her health well with medication and routine. She deleted social media apps and turned off comments to protect her mental well-being.
The 31-year-old said she knows Thompson professionally as fellow basketball players but described their relationship as limited. “Me and Klay, we know each other because we both play professional basketball. I would have considered him a friend,” she said. “I do not know Meg Thee Stallion at all.”

She expressed frustration that neither Thompson nor Megan Thee Stallion has publicly disputed the rumors naming her.
“I’m still the only person that has denied this entire situation of my involvement and claimed that this is 100% false,” Brown said. “The fact that I’m still the only one that is defending my name … there’s this massive outcry for protecting Black women and nobody has mentioned Lexie Brown’s name in any of those conversations.”
Brown added that she expected one or both parties in the relationship — who “know that it was not me” — to issue a statement clearing her name, especially since she was focused on WNBA preseason play at the time the rumors surfaced.
Her father, former NBA player Dee Brown, condemned the attacks in a statement to Fox News Digital.
“As a father, watching the negative, hateful, and most importantly, false attacks lobbed at my daughter has been debilitating,” he said. “Seeing her live in absolute fear and exhaustion over these false attacks, and then seeing these attacks repeated by so many media outlets without even a shred of proof is beyond horrifying.”
Neither Thompson nor Megan Thee Stallion has commented publicly on Brown’s statements as of Thursday afternoon.
Brown, who was traded to the Storm from the Los Angeles Sparks before the 2025 season, has been recovering from health challenges that included significant weight loss and multiple surgeries related to Crohn’s. She credited the Storm’s support system with helping her return to a strong physical and mental place before the current controversy.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about online harassment of athletes, particularly women in the WNBA, who have previously spoken out about privacy and safety issues. Brown said she is focusing on the upcoming WNBA season while prioritizing her safety and health.
