Baseball is supposed to be America’s calm, classy pastime. You know: sunshine, peanuts, polite clapping. Well, someone forgot to tell Jorge Soler and Reynaldo López, because things got very un-baseball-like during the Los Angeles Angels vs Atlanta Braves game.
And by “un-baseball-like,” we mean a full-on dugout drama that looked like it belonged in a reality TV reunion episode.
Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss TACKLED Jorge Soler in the fight between Soler and Reynaldo Lopez.

The Angels were already having a rough night. Losing will do that. Spirits were low, bats were quiet, and frustration was bubbling. Then suddenly Soler and López decided teamwork was overrated and threw hands instead.
Angels designated hitter Jorge Soler went after López following a high-and-tight wild pitch in the fifth. There was a lengthy staredown before Soler took steps toward the mound and López held out his arms before the two exchanged punches. López was holding the baseball when he landed a punch on Soler’s batting helmet.
Soler homered in the first — the fifth of his career in 23 at-bats against López — and was hit by a pitch in the third.
The big question now is what happens next. Suspensions? Fines? Awkward locker room silence? Probably all three, because nothing says “team bonding” like avoiding eye contact after a public scuffle.
At the end of the day, baseball will move on, the Angels will try to regroup, Soler and López will likely have a long, uncomfortable conversation, or maybe just a handshake and a “my bad.” Who knows?

One thing is certain: this game will be remembered, not for the score, not for the plays, but for the moment when two players said, “Forget the game, we’ve got our own issues to handle.”
After a big night at the plate, Soler made it clear he didn’t appreciate being hit by Reynaldo López following his homer. Emotions took over after some words were exchanged from the mound and a reminder of how intense this game can get when competition is at its highest. ⚾️🔥… pic.twitter.com/ykRz9zOpAS
