A quiet neighborhood in Hanford was shaken early Sunday morning by a tragic act of violence. Local boxer Adrian Valdovinos was found dead after a shooting inside a home on the 1500 block of University Avenue. He had gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the incident happened around 4 a.m. Witnesses reported hearing a man and a woman arguing inside the house. Soon after, officers arrived and encountered a chaotic and dangerous situation.
According to investigators, the suspect was Vincent Diaz, the ex-husband of the woman inside the home. Authorities say Diaz turned a firearm on himself and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound before officers could intervene.
Police believe he shot Valdovinos — the woman’s current boyfriend — before taking his own life. “This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” the department said.
The killing has devastated loved ones of Valdovinos, who was described by friends and family as a rising boxer with a bright future.
Known as “Angelo” to those close to him, he was remembered as a dedicated athlete with strong ties to the community. In the aftermath, grief and anger have surfaced online.
A woman who identified herself as Diaz’s cousin wrote in a social media post that “two families lost” in the tragedy, expressing heartbreak over the deaths.
“If u knew my Cuzn Vincent Diaz u would know he was a loving caring father that would always have his girls and he would never leave them. So none of this makes sense,” the woman said.
The tragedy is a reminder of how quickly things can change. One moment, everything seems normal, the next, lives are lost and families are left searching for answers.
Adrian Valdovinos leaves behind a legacy in his community and in the sport he loved. His story will now be remembered not only for his talent, but also for the heartbreaking way his life ended.
