The second day of the Stefon Diggs trial has begun, and it didn’t take long for things to spiral out of control when Jamila Adams was questioned by the NFL player’s defense on a purported $5.5 million demand.
When asked if her attorney contacted Diggs’ camp with the hefty demand in a Dedham, Massachusetts courtroom on Tuesday, Adams briefly paused before responding:
“Mr. Diggs offered me $100,000 to recant my statement. That is the only –.”
Before Adams could finish, a motion to strike was made, and the response was removed from the record as non-responsive.
Before a pause was called, the former chef remained on the stand for an astounding ten minutes.
When the trial continued, the judge warned Adams that her testimony would be excluded if she did not explicitly address the questions posed and made sure the jury understood that the answers could not be taken into account during deliberation. Diggs’ team went on to investigate the purported $5.5 million demand.
In the end, she stated that she was unable to respond to the question of whether the demand was made on her behalf.
Adams was also questioned earlier about a text she allegedly sent to Cardi B following the release of the police report. She acknowledged that the text originated from her, but she denied understanding any follow-ups about the message or what she meant when she said, “I didn’t say that, especially in the way it was written.”
